Angela Kinsey felt sure jokes about her Christian religion in The Office had been unsuitable, and she or he spoke up about them, she mentioned on a recent podcast.
Kinsey, who performed Angela Martin on the present, talked about her Christian religion with former co-star Rainn Wilson on the April 23 episode of his podcast, Soul Boom.
Wilson, who performed Dwight on the present, requested Kinsey about taking part in an “uptight Christian” when she was raised having a “very heat, significant relationship” along with her religion and the church.
“Did that ever bump up in opposition to you in any manner?” he requested.
Kinsey mentioned there have been jokes written for her character that she felt pigeonholed Christians and didn’t actually replicate their views.
She cited one episode within the third season, wherein her character was given a line she felt was “tremendous judge-y” in opposition to Oscar, a homosexual character on the present.
Kinsey mentioned she talked to producer and showrunner Greg Daniels about it.
“Yeah, truly, there have been one or two times wherein there can be a joke written for her that I assumed was simply actually stereotypical, perhaps one observe. I like to consider her as a full, well-rounded individual. I do keep in mind I keep in mind there was a specific storyline between Angela and Oscar, the place Angela was being tremendous judge-y. “And he was like, ‘OK.’ And he heard me, and he took the joke out. And the episode, it was ‘Gay Witch Hunt,’ had so many already. But that’s the one pivotal second I keep in mind being like, OK, that is feeling like a stereotype and really one observe. I really feel like she has extra depth than that,” Kinsey mentioned.
