EXCLUSIVE: Chicago Med has locked in its three remaining authentic forged members for 2024-25. S. Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt and Marlyne Barrett, whose most up-to-date contracts have been up on the finish of this previous season, have closed offers to increase their tenure on the NBC medical drama to a decade, sources inform Deadline.
Headed into its tenth season, Chicago Med, from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, follows the emotional day-to-day chaos of the town’s latest state-of-the-art trauma middle and the lives of the medical doctors, nurses and workers who maintain all of it collectively.
Emmy winner Merkerson performs Sharon Goodwin, the chief administrator of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. Platt performs Dr. Daniel Charles, chief of the psychiatry division. Barrett performs Maggie Lockwood, cost nurse of the emergency division.
The new offers with Merkerson, Platt and Barrett guarantee continuity on the One Chicago offshoot, which is present process a significant behind-the-scenes transition forward of Season 10, with co-showrunners Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider stepping down after nine years. They are being succeeded on the helm by Allen MacDonald. Onscreen, forged member Dominic Rains is departing after five seasons.
Dick Wolf and MacDonald government produce Chicago Med alongside Stephen Hootstein and Peter Jankowski. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, producers in affiliation with Wolf Entertainment.
Merkerson, whose affiliation with Wolf and NBC spans 30 years throughout Law & Order and Chicago Med, received an Emmy, an Indie Spirit Award, a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for the 2005 movie Lackawanna Blues. She additionally received two NAACP Image Awards for her long-running position on Law & Order. Merkerson, a Tony nominee for The Piano Lesson, is repped by CAA, supervisor Bob McGowan and Kraditor & Haber.
Platt has been recurring as Uncle Jimmy on FX’s hit comedy The Bear, a task that earned him his fifth Emmy nomination, following noms for Nip/Tuck, Huff (twice) and The West Wing. Platt, who subsequent can be seen within the Pamela Adlon-directed movie Babes, is repped by WME.
Barrett is repped by Gallant Management and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern.
